The type of work done by a person during a current or past job. A job is defined by the sum of all the data related to the occupation. A change in occupation, supervisory level, industry, employer, or employer location is considered a new job. A record of individual work positions that a person has held over time. It is noted that if every position that a person has held over their lifetime were known, one could calcualte the overal Occupational History from these. However in practice, usually only some of the positions are documented, often only those considered most relevant. Thus the Occupational History record is typically maintained separately from the Past or Present Job observations, and they will not always agree completely. Nevertheless, the Past or Present Job observations are important to gain insight into particular positions that correlate to health issues, and a collection of these observations will be maintained.
